High Rock Lake, N.C. - March 1, 2008

Once again the weather plays havoc with fishing conditions on High Rock Lake. One week ago it was predicted that High Rock would produce the biggest catch of the year for a 10 fish limit, but gusty winds recorded up to 40mph and 20 degree nights changed that quickly. Over 5 days, cold front after cold front pushed into the area and also pushed the big fish to the bottom and sewed their mouths shut. Impossible to fish the main lake, once again the anglers had to tuck into any corner they could to be protected from the wind.

Coming out on top was the Virginia father and son team on Bobby and Michael Jacobs with 15.50 lbs. The two were fishing up river, tight lining bottom fish to make their day a good one. It also helped to bring home close to $1300 in cash and awards for their effort

Taking second place was Wil Hinson from Cassatt, S.C. Wil was slow trolling a short line in Swearing creek to net 12.85 lbs. for his effort and pick up a check for $550.

A close third was the Concord, N.C. team of Keith Manus and Darrell Layton. The duo was also in Swearing creek tight lining shallow fish to get a check for close to $300 bucks.

The big fish went to Denny Potts and Brian Shore from State Road and Mocksville N.C. a 2.28 pound hammer worth $300
