Lake Wateree, SC. -September
16, 2006
Well finally September 16 rolled around for the first of 8 regular events
for this year. Already I have learned not to be so hard headed. After doing
the very same thing in last years spring event I should learn that when you
see muddy fast water 1 mile up the river, don’t even think it won't be in
your lap on tournament morning. Trust me your feelings will get hurt.
Not so for the team
of Brian and Brett Davis from Leesville, SC. The father/son team was tight
lining the Taylor Creek area to bring 12.08 lbs. of craps to the scales for
1st place and over $1500 bucks for their effort as well as having the big
fish of the event. This win made them the winning-est regular season team in
our books with 5 events since 2002.
Their win wasn't a
cake walk as they barely edged out another top father/son team from Kershaw,
SC. The team of Sam and Marty Kennington lugged in 12.02 lbs. to the scales
for a second place check worth $535 smackaroos. They were tight lining…but
don’t ask me where because I don't know.
What I do know is that the third place team of Dennis Morgan and Doug Dawley
had some hawgs early and had to quit fishing to keep them alive so they
could come to the scales with 11.64 lbs. of speckled perch and bring home
$330 dollars as well as the third place AWD baits big fish. The two were
tight lining in June Creek to get this early bite.
