Fishing Creek / Stumpy Pond, S.C. -January 13, 2007
Only the Lord
knows why after a week of flooding the river and trying to find a way to
catch fish in a current that He would let it be calm on tournament day. Well
a lot of anglers thanked Him. I reckon I can thank Him for not letting my
boat sink, having such a pretty day to fish and having friends from all over
I can talk to. Lord I won't say any more.
The Concord, N.C.
team of David Swaringen and Lee Ford can thank Him too. After fishing Stumpy
Pond on Thursday and not catching a fish, it was a different tale on
Friday. The two fished the steady water of Stumpy Pond to get almost 15
lbs. of Specs to take home top honors worth $1300 bucks. The two were tight
lining bottom fish. They also took second place big fish with a 2.85 lb.
toad.
The Cassatt, S.C.
and Columbia, S.C. team of Will Hinson and Tom Slice continued to make a
strong showing by taking second place with 14.60 lbs. Tom and Will were
tight lining Stumpy Pond.
Taking third and
the highest place team from Fishing Creek was also tight lining around the
low end near the duck blind. Proving they could catch Craps with other
methods than trolling, the team of Ellis and Jon Cannon from Chapin, S.C.
netted 14.18 lbs. to take home the honors.
With a new weight
and one that will be hard to beat for the yearly big fish was Jimmy Hood and
Sandy Hazeldon from Rock Hill, S.C. Their big fish was a whopping 2.92 lbs.
and maybe worth a $900 MinnKota trolling motor if it holds up.
