The Southern Crappie Classic came down to the last day as anyone could have found some fish that were active and come out on top. For the third time in a row, the dock shooting team of Randy Pope and Jerry Pruitt from Hickory and Vale N.C. found that little edge they needed to get the craps to bite. The two were using Lindy Little Joe jigs… mostly white and chartreuse. With a total weight for two days of 18.01 lbs., the duo once again came home with just over $5000.00 bucks for 1st place.

Fishing down the river among most teams, the 2006 Points Champions, Eddie Werts and Kenny Winn from Saluda, SC added to their portfolio by taking Second place with a 2-day weight of 17.84 lbs. Eddie and Kenny were using Charlie Brewer Sliders to earn their success.

Taking third, doing the same thing for the 4 days of fishing was the Huntersville, NC father and son team of Stokes McClellan ad Adam McClellan. The two were trolling the main river working on 12oz fish with an occasional 1-pounder to get to the top three with a weight of 17.32 lbs. Stokes and Adam were using Charlie brewer sliders and culprit bait paddle tails to gain an edge. 

Mostly all teams on the top of the board were fishing from Second Creek down to Panther Creek. Some big catches up the river on Wednesday and Thursday failed several anglers as the water dropped Thursday night. It didn't take much to shut down the already stressed out craps. But still hoping it would change, time ran out for those teams. The big fish for the event did come from up the river for the team of Butch Arthur and Bobby Jacobs.  The Big Fish weight was 1.72 lbs.
