Lake Jordan, NC. -Oct. 29, 2005

When you really think a troller has a chance in a tournament, some 20 or so tight liners that use to be my friends block you out of your honey hole so that you couldn’t make just one pass. The way I calculated, with my 16 ft B&M's on each side with my 6ft bow, I needed 38 ft for me. Now, with a boat on each side using 14ft pole to tight line with, I needed 64ft to clear one pass. I kept watching and finally, me being the wizard at numbers like I am I seen an opening of 65ft if no one moved, so I went for it and halfway through my run I was yanking and breaking lines as I was caught by surprise, the dadblame team on my right had 16ft poles to. So to make a long story short I got beat again by tight liners in (my) own hole. But to each tight liner out there just remember that Lake Oconee is next.

Taking the first slot of 43teams and a purse of over $3000 was the NC father and son team of Harold and Heath Fesperman. The duo was tight lining double rigged hook and minnow methods, behind the bridge at Farrington Point to catch a whopping 17.46 lbs. of slabs.

Taking second place was the now together team of butch Arthur and Booby Jacobs team from VA. Almost always in the money and usually in first place, butch and bobby where in the same place and tight lining minnows two feet off the bottom to real in 16.51pds of specs and also getting in a three way tie for big fish honors with a 2.32 toad. This helped them to bring home $633 for their efforts.

Rounding out the top three was the SC team of Eddie Werts and Kenny Winn. I know you can't guess what they were doing. You got it, they were tight lining minnows right off the bottom also and yes they were behind the bridge at Farrington Point. Eddie and Kenny received $241 for their effort.

And now to thank the NC Wildlife Commission for putting a 10-inch limit and 20 fish creel on Lake Jordan. In two years you can see the results by the weights that were weighed in. An estimated 6oo lbs. of Crappie were turned back in to spawn more giants like we seen on this event.

There were over 20 two lb. Crappie weighed in.
