Lake Oconee
December 18, 2004
Once again those
Georgia trollers proved that you just couldn’t come to their lake without
taking a whooping! Seven of the top ten teams were defending their home
ground and did it well.
The team of Billy
Williams and Jason Little were trolling Lick Creek to top the field of 42
teams with 16.65 lbs. to capture first place.
Believe it or
not a tight liner was second as the North Carolina team of Jim Wright and
Mark Leatherman smoked the rest of the trollers with 16.16 lbs. Mark and Jim
were fishing the left side cove behind the Hwy 44 bridge.
Rounding out the
top three was the trolling team of Fred Walker and Danny Sisson. Can't be
sure where they were but maybe Lick Creek also. I know for sure they
weren't close to me. Fred and Danny were the only other team to top 16 lbs.
(16.03).
Not to be left
out, the team of Milton Dowey and Joe Cantey overtook the Marshall’s Marine
“Big Fish of the Year” from Leonard Frick and Lewis Marshall with a whopping
2.63 pound slab. This one will be hard to top. Some say that next month’s
tournament on Lake Wylie may be the only chance to do it.
Lake Oconee once
again proved to be one of the premier lakes in the country as the top twenty
teams had over 13 lbs. of specs.
