It was
said to be in most angler’s eyes that it was probably the worst conditions
that they had ever fished in. Starting out at 23degrees and 15 to 25 mph
winds, 54 teams either showed the love of crappie fishing, love for
competition or love for Southern Crappie Association. Regardless, it was
the highest turnout for a regular season event in our history. The father
son team of Joe and Brice Cantey came out on top with a stringer of
10.59lbs. to edge out the father and son team of Randy and Steven Stewart by
2 / 100ths to take home $1280 of total purse of $4400 worth of cash and
prizes. Joe credited their win to fishing Charlie Brewers and AWD grubs
clean down to the bottom of 25 to 30 ft of water.
Also we had a change of the big fish of the year with the team of David
Swaringen and Lee Ford landing a 2.70 lb. slab.
