Lake Thurmond, S.C./G.A.- February 9, 2008
May we give great thanks
to the Lord for making us a great weekend of fishing. With 42 teams
competing in 70 degree weather, it was a nice change from the weeks before
of cold and rain. Other than the wind it was really nice. Even though the
warm weather turned on some specs in a couple of creeks, it hurt those who
had found fish in the river and up river as muddy conditions took its toll.
Very seldom will you see a lake as big as Clark Hill have 80% of the teams
in one creek in one area of the creek. A little crowded couldn't really
describe how tight it got. The top three teams started in the back of Big
Creek and hammered shallow fish early to rattle the rest of the field.
Marc Danque from Chapin
S.C. hauled in 17.89 lbs. plus a second big fish weighing 2.74 lbs. to take
top honors and over $1200 bucks.
Teddy Steen and Mark
Bedenbaugh from Leesville S.C. had 17.09 lbs. to take second and $500 bucks
for their effort. Teddy had planned to fish Big Hart but changed his mind.
Finishing a close third
was Maxie Steen and Grandson Justin Steen from Leesville S.C. Maxie and
Justin won the adult/youth division also making their total prize worth
$400.
Taking big fish honors and
the big fish lead of the year again was Jay Bruce and Carolyn Reeves from
Greer S.C. The hog weighed 2.75 lbs. and was worth $273 bucks.
Trolling was the key for
every team as you could not buy a fish sitting still. Well known single pole
jiggers Leonard and Todd Frick were even seen trolling.
