Blewitt Falls Lake , N.C. - September 18, 2007
With the first of 8 regular events gone, the
best thing about Blewitt Falls is that God is good and he watches out for
his children. Even though the fish were not biting because of 3 months of
the driest and hottest days one can remember, the Lord gave us rain on
Friday and beautiful 80 degree day on Saturday. It was truly a joy to be on
the water. But most important was the blessing I received after the
weigh-in. I was wandering about and I came upon three different groups of
fishermen, and the main topic of each group was Jesus Christ. This just
makes fishing Southern Crappie a joy for me to know that I am associated
with people like this.
Taking home the top honors was the Leesville
S.C. team of Leonard and Todd Frick. This is the first time the two have
fished as a team with SCA and they were quite impressive. The last time the
two fished an event with us they were in separate boats. They came in first
and second. Maybe we should be thankful they are fishing together. Leonard
and Todd were doing there thing by single pole jigging any thing that was
sticking out of the water. Their catch was 9.58 lbs. to earn them $1200.00
in cash and prizes.
Starting where they left off last year, the
S.C. team of Wil Hinson and Tom Slice were tight lining a ledge in the river
to net 9.52 lbs. of specs too earn them $525.00 bucks, good enough for
second place.
Another S.C. team from Lugoff that fish’s one
pole each helped their purse with $269.00. The father son team of Big Joe
and Little Joe Branham were jigging stumps and blow downs to net 8.92 lbs.
to win third place honors.
In all close to $4000.00 was awarded to 47
teams.
