Lake Murray, S.C. -February 17, 2007
February 17, 2006 is a good example of
why these Southern Crappie anglers are considered the best there is. With
craps hard to find and winds from 20 to 30 mph on a day when the thermometer
reached 42 degrees, 44 jumped at the chance to show their stuff.
Coming out on top was the local
favorites Ray Koon and Mike Huffstettler. The two were pushing jigs from the
front and trolling from the back to net 15.71 lbs., along with the second
big fish of the day to bring home close to $1400 smackers for their effort.
Coming in second was the North
Carolina team of Tom Sprouse and Steve Gentry. Fishing the Little River
area, the two netted 15.64 lbs. using their tight lining skills. This helped
with cause by putting $565 smackers in their wallets.
Taking third place was the local one
man team of Marc Danque. Marc was fishing deep brush way down the lake to
catch 15.33 lbs. and put $275 bucks in his pocket.
