(SPECIAL BULLETIN!)
Two anglers from South Carolina, in what should have been an
assault, could only be ruled as an insult to some 84 other anglers in a
crappie fishing tournament on Lake Jordan in Raleigh, N.C. this past
weekend.
Fishing in “not so perfect” conditions
didn’t hamper the success of Wil Hinson and Tom Slice as the two were tight
lining minnows at the mouth of No Name Creek in the middle of 20 or so
teams. They brought out a total of 18.18 lbs. of “hammers” to top the
second place team of Denny Potts by almost 5 pounds! The two anglers have
been due this for some time and everything came together on this event. As
a special mention, Tom indicated that he won his last tournament many years
ago and was labeled “The Iceman”. He mentioned in the interview that “The
Iceman” was back and for all to beware.
Potts, from Mocksville, N.C., was
fishing around the Hwy 64 bridge area working some brush around a drop off
to net 13.58 lbs. for his efforts.
Taking a solid third place check home
was the owner of “AWD Baits”, Milton Dowey and his partner Joe Cantey. Both
anglers are from Lugoff, S.C. Joe and Milton were fishing the mouth of No
Name Creek also. The two were tight lining AWD “Crappie Delights” to bring
in 13.48 lbs. of “specs”.
For the second event in a row, Marc
Danque from S.C. took Big Fish honors with a 2.53 lb. toad for the
Proplite Big Fish award.
