Not even on High
Rock can a troller win!! But you can bet the tight lining techniques of Tom
Sprouse and Steve Gentry can bring home the bacon. The two were tight
lining in Potts Creek along with most of the money winners to haul in 12.22
lbs of slabs. That included two over two pounds to pocket over twelve
hundred smacaroos.
Guess what… the
second place team and last year’s High Rock winners were in Potts Creek.
David Swaringen and Lee Ford netted 10.02 lbs. to get a check for
five-hundred thirty-five bucks. The two were also tight lining.
Now for a third
place finish and a respectable check for two-hundred eighty-bucks was the
father and son team of Heath and Harold Fesperman. Heath and his dad were
tight lining in Potts Creek to earn 9.93 lbs. of specs.
Now for the big
fish, the team of Wesley Stokes and Terry Stiller netted a 2.45 crappie for
a worth of three-hundred twelve dollars and the outright lead for big fish
of the year. The two were tight lining in Potts Creek.
That sounds funny
that most of the top ten were up in Potts Creek, but good fish were being
caught all over the lake until the cold front that brought winds in excess
of 40mph halted the creels down the river. Most anglers were real impressed
how much the craps are growing. It should make for a fantastic classic in
May barring any cold fronts or rain storms or hurricane force winds
