Santee 2004
For most anglers,
fishing Santee Cooper in December is a nightmare. After not finding any
crappie, 33 teams still braved the 180,000 acres of Lake Marion and Lake
Moultrie just to test their dedication to the sport. Coming out on top was
the male/female team of Mike and Beverly Small from Camden SC. For days Mike
would say how he had pre-fished and had not seen a crappie only to catch
close to a hundred on tournament day. The team had an outstanding weight of
12.81 lbs. They were tight lining around the I-95 Bridge on the edge of the
river.
Taking second was
also a male and female team from Eastover, SC. The team of Billy and Barbara
Hill were tight lining way…way…way… up the upper part of the river to catch
26 slabs, 10 of them weighing 12.11 lbs.
Also tight lining
above the I-95 Bridge in the river was the Raleigh, NC area team of Freddie
Sinclair and Eddie Clifton. The two of them also had a ten fish limit of
8.79 lbs.
