It is possible to have too nice of weather to crappie fish. This seemed to be the case as the temperature hit almost 80 and almost no wind made the specs wonder whether or not to move into the late fall and early winter patterns. With the water temp. at 63° instead of the lower 50’s, the bite was really slow for most anglers. The team of Frick and Marshall from the Columbia, SC area used just two poles as they jigged brush in the middle of the river catching over 13 pounds to take home close to $1200 in cash and prizes. The SC team of Frick and Farr and the NC team of McClellan and McClellan each shared second place with 12.44 pounds. Frick and Farr were trolling and the McClellan team was tight lining. So it seems that whatever you feel good about doing to catch craps, then that is the right way.
